Test shows that Thailand has the worst English language skills in Southeast Asia

According to the JobStreet.com English Language Assessment, Thailand is languishing well behind its peers in terms of English language competency.

The test, which draws its results from 1,540,785 participants from across Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines and Malaysia, checks for English language competency, specifically in vocabulary related to business.

Of the countries surveyed, Thailand scored the lowest in terms of English language ability by answering an average of 55% of the survey questions correctly.

Singaporean test takers, on the other hand, chalked up average scores of 81% to take top honors.

The Nation reports that test takers working in the fields of journalism, marketing and secretarial duties turned in the highest test scores.
