On Monday morning, a massive fight broke out between two rival college gangs in Pathumthani, just North of Bangkok.
The violence was set off by an incident in which several students threw explosives at their rivals in front of a Major Cineplex. Retaliations soon followed as belligerents from Pathumthani Technical School and Pathumthani Technology College attacked each other with fists and improvised weapons.
Police arrived on the scene and made 23 arrests, putting a temporary stop to the violence. However, fights nearly broke out again at Pathumthani Hospital, where members of the rival gangs were sent for treatment of their wounds.
Khaosod reports that, in a separate incident, 12 Pathumthani Technology students were arrested for opening fire with pen-guns on rival students at a bus stop.
