Officials from the Transport Department came down hard on the taxi driver who was caught red-handed pleasing himself while he had a Thai Airways air hostess in the backseat.
His cab, dubbed the “taxi of lust” by the Thai press, had its plates removed and revoked yesterday.
The handsy driver, Phisit, whose last name has not been released, picked up his pretty passenger at Thai’s training center in the North Bangkok district of Laksi. She asked to go to her house on Vibhavadi Soi 60, reported Daily News.
However, before she arrived home, Phisit adjusted his rearview mirror so he could look at the woman and took down his pants. He then began to pleasure himself.
The woman recognized his movements and got out of the cab. She yelled at him and, in reply he said that he wouldn’t do it again and he gave her a wai.
No word on whether his hands stuck together as he made the apologetic gesture.
He was arrested after the air hostess shared her story on Facebook. Netizens helped report the driver to the Department of Land Transport (DLT) hotline, who then took action. Upon arrest, it was revealed that Phisit’s taxi license expired in March of 2015.
The company that rented the cab to Phisit, Sahakorn Pathumwan Taxi Co. Ltd., was fined THB2,500 for renting to an unlicensed cabbie and they had their plates taken.
Phisit was fined THB3,000. The THB2,000 fine was for driving without a license and the THB1,000 was levied for inappropriate behavior.
The fines are hardly suitable for the kinds of trauma these incidents can cause women and they are far too common in Bangkok. Remember the woman that had to jump into a canal to escape a driver that tried to rape her? Or this driver that used obscene language and caressed a woman’s legs?
Cabbies need to be held to stricter standards.
