A taxi driver is crediting his amulets with his successful escape from an electric pole collapse that destroyed his car on Samsen Road in Bangkok last night.
Saman Somsri, 47, said that he decided to move his car during a fierce rain storm when he noticed that the utility poles along the road were shaking violently.
Despite Saman’s precaution a pole fell on his car, one of 26 electric poles that were toppled in the vicinity due to the storm.
Saman said he believes the tree amulets he was wearing, and a figurine of King Naresuan, protected him from harm.
Talismans are a well-known source of protection for many Thais.
Unfortunately, his passenger was not as lucky and suffered slight head injuries, Khaosod reported.
