A Bangkok taxi driver has been accused of raping a drunk female passenger and stealing her iPhone after he picked her up from RCA last week.
Chartchai Pinthurak, 36, was arrested Tuesday at his taxi garage in Lat Phrao soi 48 after a female passenger accused him of raping her at a motel last Thursday night.
The 37-year-old tour guide, whose identity has been withheld, told police Friday morning that she was under the influence of alcohol when she got in the taxi at the popular nightlife area. She told Chartchai to drop her off at her home in Lat Phrao Soi 83, but he took her to a motel on Nuan Chan road instead.
The victim said Chartchai dragged her into a room at Love House Hotel. She tried to call a friend, but he took her phone and assaulted her in the room.
The tour guide said she fell unconscious after the assault and woke up on Friday morning when a motel employee knocked on the door. She then went to Kok Kram police.
Chatchai denied raping the passenger, claiming when they arrived at her house, she was asleep and would not wake up, so he put her in a motel room and only took her phone as a fare.
“I only got a room for her to rest. I really didn’t do it,” Chartchai said to police in tears, “I didn’t do anything to her. She puked all over me.”
Police are still waiting for results of the victim’s medical examination as the investigation continues, Channel 3 News and Daily News reported.
