Taiwanese tour guide crushed to death in freak accident

A 36-year-old Taiwanese tour guide was crushed to death under a train Saturday when he jumped from the slowing vehicle in Kanchanaburi province.

The guide, Lin Yung-pei, was leading a group of 30 tourists to the Sak Yok Noi waterfall.

As the train pulled into Tham Krasae station, Lin decided to jump off onto the platform, but the strap of his bag around his neck hooked on a handrail and pulled him under the train, Bangkok Post reported.

Authorities in Sai Yok district were met with a crowd of locals and foreigners alike surrounding Lin’s body on the rails when they arrived at the station 2pm. The body was later brought to Sai Yok Hospital.

Lin’s relatives have been informed of the incident through Taiwanese diplomats.
