After all the passengers had boarded a flight bound for Koh Samui from Suvarnabhumi yesterday afternoon, a Swedish man thought it would be the perfect moment to yell that he had a bomb on the plane.

Flight PG145 was due to leave for Samui at 1:45pm but was instead taken to the eastern edge of the airport. The staff worked to calm passengers down before deplaning them and holding them in a waiting area.

A bomb disposal unit was deployed, every inch of the plane and every bit of the luggage was searched, as were the 140 passengers themselves, reported Daily News.

No explosives were found.

The passengers, save for the Swedish suspect who was detained, were transferred to another gate to wait for a much later rescheduled flight, which left at 6:30pm

The flight carrier, Bangkok Airways, provided meals to the passengers during their long wait and the boutique airline is now preparing to charge the man for monetary compensation.

The Swede’s name was not released and his motive for the actions not given.
