Suspected Russian ‘spice’ merchant arrested by Thai Interpol

Thai authorities arrested a Russian fugitive in Phuket wanted by Interpol in connection with the production of synthetic marijuana.

Yuri Chemanov was arrested on Ko Samui after allegedly fleeing Russia to avoid capture

Thai Interpol head Col. Apichart Suriboonya said Chemanov was linked to the trade in a type of cannabis which is difficult to detect by sniffer dogs or typical drug tests, Thai PBS reported.

Commonly called “Spice” or “herbal incense,” synthetic cannabis is created by spraying natural herbs with chemicals that produce a high similar to marijuana but with more serious side effects.
