The man taken into custody for allegedly murdering a 5-year-old girl in Kanchanaburi on Sunday and dumping her body by a septic tank, has said he slit her throat because he was scared of her.
The man, Anusorn Saipin, 24, is being detained for 12 days while police continue to investigate. He was taken into custody on Tuesday. He told investigators that the girl entered his house while he was asleep and he killed her because, when he woke up, he thought she was an evil spirit sent to kill him, reported Thai PBS.
Upon waking, Anusorn claims he saw the girl quickly and she ran into his kitchen. He followed her and slit her throat with a knife he found there.
He also said that he washed the blood from the floor and put her body in a fertilizer bag before dumping the bag near his home in the Srisawat district of Kanchanaburi.
Some charges have already been brought against the alleged killer including premeditated murder and hiding a body to conceal a crime.
An earlier report claimed that Anusorn has been plagued by mental illness.
