A male cat died after jumping off a Pattaya condo and landing on a transformer where he was sadly electrocuted.
The 3-year-old orange feline, whose identity was unknown, died tragically at his residence of Pattaya Pad Condominium in Pattaya Klang on Monday evening, according to Pattaya Eastern news.
His human neighbour Orathai Saensaeya, 34, who operates a grocery shop in the area, said she heard the transformer exploding before the power went out. She then went to check the transformer and discovered a dead cat.
Orathai said many cats have fallen to the same fate and electrocuted themselves after jumping onto the transformer.
It wasn’t clear if the deceased had an owner, while his motivation for the tragic jump wasn’t concluded. Was he simply trying to catch a bird or was he troubled?
State electricians took two hours to restore the power and retrieve the cat’s body.
Orathai demanded measures to prevent similar incidents, complaining of the inconvenience of the power going out every time a cat electrocutes itself on the transformer.
