Anusawn Jirapong, a member of the National Reform Steering Assembly, has been fined THB10,000 for bodily assault after he hit a server across the face at Greyhound restaurant.
Ausawn, 60, reported to Bang Sue police yesterday to accept the charge. The junta-appointed official confessed he slapped the servery at Greyhound Villa Ari for addressing to him as “pa” instead of the polite “khun.”
In Thai language, “pa” has a double meaning for “dad” and “sugar daddy.” The word is sometimes used to refer to the older, respected person between two people who have a close relationship.
Anusawn, a regular customer at the restaurant, said he was offended by being called “pa” by 27-year-old server Chat-alongkorn Nilayan. The senior official added he had warned the server not to address to him with the word before the incident, PPTV reported.
Chat-alongkorn accepted Anusawn’s apology and refused to accept compensation.
Meanwhile, social media has been mocking Anusawn for his “sugar daddy” status as photos of him with young, pretty models were leaked online — to which Anusawn responded with “I’m single.”
The man told Manager that he’s a bachelor and there’s nothing wrong with taking photos with the ladies. He doesn’t have family baggage and is not “intimate” with anyone.
He said if the public wants to know more about his personal life, they’re welcome to investigate.
Thanks, but we’ll leave it at that.
Meanwhile, the Association for the Protection of the Constitution has called on the National Reform Steering Assembly to expel Anusawn for his behavior, Matichon reported.
The matter will be discussed in a meeting by an appointed ethics committee this afternoon.
Ethics Committee Vice President Walailak Sriarun promised a fair probe but personally thinks that Anusawn will not be fired.
