A 19-year-old engineering student died in Pathum Thani after being hit by a homemade explosive thrown by gang members.
Police pronounced Natthasit Sakhornpaiboon dead from injuries sustained by the so-called “ping-pong bomb” thrown at him while he was pursuing three people he suspected of trying to steal his motorcycle from a university dormitory.
Kittisak Samranpanitsaid he was riding behind his friend Natthasit on a motorcyle and had almost caught up to the gang when they threw the bomb that killed his friend, police said.
Police are seeking suspects, Bangkok Post reported.
