Earlier this week, representatives from Thailand’s Association of Domestic Travel reported that the stronger baht has prompted more Thais to seek their holidays abroad.
Yutthachai Soonthronrattanavate, president of the Association, commented despairingly on the situation, stating that domestic tourism businesses were losing money as a result of the strong currency. According to the National News Bureau of Thailand, Yutthachai urged the Bank of Thailand to take measures to weaken the currency.
