A strong earthquake shook Chiang Rai this morning, just three months after a powerful temblor struck the northern province.
The magnitude-4.8 tremor struck the Mae Suai district 74 kilometers southwest of Chiang Rai city in the early hours of the morning, according to the seismology division of the meteorological department.
Although the early morning quake could be felt, there were no reported injuries or damage.
A strong and shallow 6.0-magnitude quake rattled the region on May 5 and was felt as far away as Bangkok.
