Many of us have had a neighbor who violates public space in one way or another, but this woman has had it with her “big shot” neighbors decided to take over the village’s road and built their garage on it.
A Pantip user shared a story about a neighbor who isn’t afraid of the government’s warnings about violating public property… because they are the government.
“They say they are big shots because the wife works in the parliament and the husband is the former commander of Bang Yai police. They’re not afraid of anyone,” she wrote.
The woman, whose identity was not revealed, said her neighbors first erected a canvas tent as a garage. It invaded the space in front of her home. Recently, they decided to make things permanent by laying down a steel structure with a roof.
The woman said that she has asked the city municipality to request that her neighbor demolish the intrusive garage, but the request has been ignored.
“I just have to deal with it because they didn’t even listen to the city municipality.”
The location of her home was not identified.
The story received an overwhelming amount of attention on social media and was featured in local news media since it was posted yesterday.
“These people are the garbage of society. They do nothing but cause trouble for other people. It reflects the quality of Thai citizens. These days, people are so selfish. They take what they can,” said the top comment on the original post.
Another popular comment suggested going head-to-head with the neighbors by blocking their garage. “Just park your car in front of their garage and block it. Then say it’s a public space and you have the right to use it too.”
From the top, it looks like there is space to park at least two cars in their garage. If they had shared the space, they could have avoided being shamed on social media.
