Brace yourself for an early Christmas present: the Thai government is opening a new passport issuing office at MRT Khlong Toey.
The Department of Consular Affairs will launch the new office on Dec. 9 and it will be inside the MRT station, making it even more convenient.
Previously, when Thais wanted to get a passport, they had to trek out to east Bangkok’s Srinakarin Road passport office or to the equally annoying massive government complex on Chaeng Wattana Road.
The Khlong Toey office is in the Metro Mall section of the station and will have 20 desks that can help as many as 800 customers daily. The hours will be Monday to Friday from 8:30am until 3:30pm, reported Bangkok Post.
Now, if only they could open up an immigration outpost here as well.
Thais seeking new passports or renewals can join the online queue at www.passport.in.th.
