British tennis star Andy Murray beat rising American phenom Donald Young to win the PTT Thailand Open at Impact Arena yesterday, Oct. 2.
Fourth-ranked Murray won the first four games of the match before Young, ranked 55 in the world, grabbed one back. Murray went on to cruise to a 6-2, 6-0 win in 48 minutes to take the trophy.
“I just played really well,” Murray said, according to the AP. “Towards the end of the first set, he started playing well. But after that I hardly made any mistakes. I felt like I was moving well. It was difficult for him to hit any clean winners. He had to work hard for a lot of points.”
Young was pleased with his work in the tournament, despite losing in the final. “I had been in the semi before or reached the fourth round in a Grand Slam but nothing was like being in the final. I beat some high-caliber players. I won four matches,” he said.
