The Thailand women’s volleyball team claimed revenge over China in the finals of the third AVC Cup held in Almaty, Kazakhstan on Sunday.
The No. 12 Thai team tore through Vietnam in straight sets to earn a place in the finals against two-time defending champions China, who beat Thailand in the final two years ago.
Thailand was clearly dominant with a 3-1 victory (30-28, 25-27, 25-21), the Bangkok Post reported.
Onuma Sitthirak was named most valuable player as well as best scorer and best attacker.
The earlier win against Vietnam also secured the team’s spot in next year’s FIVB World Grand Prix. Thailand finished fourth in this year’s World Grand Prix.
