Hoping to build on an impressive semi-final showing in India earlier this year, Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana will look to make a deep run at the Australian Open this week.
The twins, participating in the men’s doubles event, carry the hopes of the nation on their shoulders as there are only a handful of Thai players in the main draws.
According to the Nation, they will open their campaign against Mikhail Youzhny of Russia and Sergiy Stakhovsky of the Ukraine.
Joining them in the doubles draw is Danai Udomchoke, who is teaming with Taiwanese Jimmy Wang for the competition.
On the women’s side, Tamarine Tanasugarn pairs up with Polish national Alicja Rolsolska for a tough opening round match against the third seeded team of Russian Maria Kirilenko and American Lisa Raymond.
