It’s that time of the year, folks. The time for seven-layer dips, reckless gambling, gluttony, sloth, general drunkenness, and rampant commercialism.
It’s Superbowl Sunday!
Or as we like to call it in Bangkok, Superbowl Monday Morning at 6:00AM.
This year’s match-up is an absolute doozy between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants. Those who aren’t from the US might not understand the animosity between the sports teams of Boston and New York, so let us sum it for you: They fuckin’ hate each other.
Eli Manning and Giants beat the Patriots in the 2007 Superbowl to end their undefeated season on a super sour note. So you can bet that the Pats, led by model Gisele Bundchen’s baby daddy Tom Brady, will be doing their utmost to NOT let history repeat itself.
For the ladies, Madonna will perform at the halftime show.
Rumors are going around that David Petraeus, current head of the CIA and former commander for the US forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, is in Bangkok and will be watching the game with US soldiers tomorrow at the JUSMAG building in Sathorn. Has anyone heard of this place?
Kick-off is at 6:29AM Thailand time tomorrow Feb. 6 and there are a few good bars in Bangkok showing the game if you’re interested.:
Home Run Bar &Grill on Soi 31 is hosting what it’s calling Bangkok’s Premier Big Game Party, where guests get breakfast during the first half, potato skins and wings during the second half, 2 free drink tickets and more. It’s quite the deal at THB500.
For THB650 at Roadhouse Barbecue, guests get a complimentary bloody mary or orange juice and a buffet breakfast.
The Sport Corner at Sukhumvit Soi 20 is opening it doors at 5:30AM serving buffet breakfast for THB120, and has a bloody mary deal going.
Also, the NFL is streaming the Superbowl online live for the first time ever. We’re not sure if it will work in Thailand, though.
