Before Catriona Gray was crowned Miss Universe this morning, that incredibly extra “slow-mo turn” during the swimsuit round had millions of people talking. (Heck, even Tyra Bank tweeted about it.)

In case you haven’t seen, here’s Miss Universe’s perfect twirl. (Caption: “If I don’t text you back, that means I’m practicing my turn like Miss Philippines.”)

But with that perfect twirl, came a perfect parody. Bangkok fan Papangkorn Kemjirachote, 32, has gained nearly a million views of his own for his funny imitation of Gray’s spin, one that saw him strutting his stuff in an RCA-area supermarket.

“That twirl came from her confidence and her great presentation skill. It’s just perfect! Like wow! Otherwise, people wouldn’t be talking about it. It’s just a twirl, but millions of people watch that video!”

Asked how he perfected his own twirl, Papangkorn told Coconuts it simply came from within.

“My friends know that I often make funny videos, and when I saw her [Gray] from a pageant Facebook page … sorry, because of my gayness, I was like ‘I wanna be like Catriona!’ But making a normal catwalk video is just too normal, so I did the twirls while I went about my daily life — shopping for groceries.”

Also worth noting, that fact that Papangkorn’s fabulous movements might have a little something to do with the fact that he’s a musical actor and a street dance teacher.

Asked who his favorites are this year aside from Miss Philippines, Papangkorn, of course, was rooting for Miss Thailand Sophida Kanchanarin, who made it to the top 10, and Miss South Africa Tamaryn Green, who finished in second place.

Minutes after Gray was announced the winner, we asked Prapangkorn to offer his own review of this year’s Miss Universe competition.

“Congratulations, [Catriona]! Today your performance was perfect, and you were so confident, I could not take my eyes off you. You had everybody under your spell,” he said.

“She deserves it, and I believe the Filipinos and even the Thai people, also agree she suits the title [of Miss Universe.]”
