This space reserved for sexy dancing: Silom readies for Songkran

Songkran is still three weeks away, but Silom Road is already totally ready to celebrate.

Street vendors are already marking their territory – literally. Several photographs showing attempts to reserve space for the April festival were posted online today.

Usually such scouting starts in early April, but it seems March is the new April this year.

The Bang Rak District Office confirmed that it’s illegal to deface a public street, and the fine is THB5,000 if offenders are caught. Not that anyone ever gets caught.

Today they’re erecting warning signs and trying to remove the paint.
