Almost half of the 90 satellite channels which went dark after the coup soon will be restored to service.
Thai viewers can soon enjoy the edifying content of Cartoon Club, Gang Cartoon, Animax and Boomerang – not to mention the cinematic gems of M Channel – after authorities approved resuming transmission of 40 of the 90 channels.
Foreign news channels remain offline as officials say they could “incite or confuse” the public, according to Bangkok Post.
That said, TrueVisions has reportedly returned American news network CNN to the air last night, according to The Nation.
Supinya Klangnarong of the National Broadcasting Commission said there would likely be more entertainment channels to fulfill the military junta’s directive to increase public happiness.
Some channels will be reviewed for misleading claims due to complaints by the Food and Drug Administration.
