A “helpful” road safety app has been launched by those fine coffee makers at Cafe Amazon. Drive Awake is aimed at drivers who show signs of sleepiness but think that drinking a coffee to help them push through after a 12-hour drive is a better idea than stopping for a sleep.
The app, which uses eye-tracking technology to determine if the driver is falling asleep, has been developed for iOS devices. As the instructional video below highlights, if a driver does start to nod off, an alarm is sounded to wake them up and the app then offers directions to the nearest Café Amazon branch based on their GPS location.
Once the drowsy driver finds a Cafe Amazon they are advised to take a break, drink a coffee and then get back on the road.
