Skechers, the third-largest casual-athletic footwear brand in Thailand (fun fact: also in the US) is expanding its store at CentralWorld shopping mall to make it the brand’s largest flagship store in Southeast Asia.

Vincent Leung, president of Skechers Southeast Asia Ltd. officially made the announcement yesterday, explaining that Thailand is the fastest-growing Skechers market in the region — reported Manager.

“In the first nine months of the year, sales grew by over 50 percent, much higher than the average growth in this region,” he said Lung via Bangkok Post.

The current 100-square-meter CentralWorld branch is set to nearly triple in size, transforming into a 275-square-meter flagship with hopes of capitalizing on the capital’s dense population and busy tourist flow.

There are currently 34 Skechers stores across Thailand.

The company has opened 12 branches in Thailand this year and aims to open 12 to 15 more stores next year, said Kaimook Neelsetti, Director of Product and Service Sales.

The company also took the opportunity yesterday to officialize the appointment of teen idol Itthipat Thanit as the face (and feet) of Skechers’ Thailand.

The company hopes his trendy heartthrob persona will help further popularize the brand in the market.
