The Sisaket Volleyball Team is plotting to steal Kazakhstani player Sabina Altynbekova to play for the club after her adorable, anime face distracted the whole stadium during a recent match in Taiwan.
Hoping to spice up the volleyball Sisaket province volleyball scene, the club has submitted a letter to the national volleyball association to negotiate for the 17-year-old athlete to play in the Volleyball Thailand League next year, according Siripong Angkasakulkiat, governor of the Sisaket Sports Association.
Sabina suddenly became idolized by Asian fans after she played for Kazakhstan in the Asian Junior Women’s Volleyball Championship held in Taipei two weeks ago.
Her beauty was reportedly the center of attention in the game and YouTube suddenly crowded with videos of Sabina just warming up, high-fiving her teammates and blowing kisses which have gained hundred thousands of views, with most comments critiquing her appearance. There is even anime fan art of Sabina floating around the interwebs.
This phenomenon concerns Sabina’s Coach Nurlan Sadikov.
“It is impossible to work like this,” Sadikov told Tengrin News in a quote translated by the Daily Mail,”The crowd behaves like there is only one player at the championship.”
Siripong says the price for this cute player might be high, but the club should be able to afford it. The only concern he has is that Sabina is still a minor. Therefore, the club will discuss with her parents to consider moving to Thailand during the competition, Siam Sport reported.
Sounds like an offer she might consider?
“Next month, I will fly to Kazakhstan with Coach Jack to talk to Sabina’s family,” Siripong says, “We want her family to take care of her during the competition, and we will cover all the expenses.”
The attention Sabina getting is absolutely ridiculous as the athlete agrees she should be famous for her performance in the game not her beauty.
“I was flattered at first but it’s all getting a little bit much,” she said “I want to concentrate on playing volleyball and to be famous for that, not anything else.”
