A woman fell to her death to escape a fire at a four-storey commercial building which burned a teenager to death outside of Bangkok this morning.
Thippaka Tinarach, 25, was seen waving for help from the balcony on the fourth floor of the burning building in Samut Prakan’s Thippawan Village before she decided to jump. She died later at the hospital.
The fire reportedly broke out on the second floor which housed a second-hand clothing shop before it spread to the third and fourth floors, which were being rented out as apartments.
Aside from Thippaka, three more residents were trapped inside including Somwang Sureram and Prapai Sureram, who also decided to jump from their rooms on the third floor. They were seriously injured but survived.
After the firefighters could put out the flames, they found the body of a 17-year-old boy, Ramnarong Wokesoongnern.
According to witnesses, they heard a banging sound from the clothing shop before they saw the fire spreading.
Authorities assumed the fire was caused by electrical short circuit, Bangkok Biz News reported.
