Police are on the hunt for a suspect who has allegedly stolen almost 200 pairs of shoes from numerous homes in western Bangkok.
Mattana Peungprathomporn, a 19-year-old college student, filed a complaint with police yesterday morning after more than 20 pairs of shoes went missing overnight from her house of five on Soi Baromratchachonnanee 74 in the Thawi Wattana district. The shoes had a combined worth of over THB40,000.
Thanaporn Rungsiwong, a 55-year-old woman who resides in the same vicinity as Mattana’s, told police that five pairs of shoes were stolen from her house as well.
These thefts come one week after a similar string of incidents struck Soi Baromratchachonnanee 121. It was there that the suspect stolen more than 150 pairs of shoes from seven houses. One shoe vendor lost over 50 pairs of FitFlop footwear.
Police have not yet acquired information on the identity of the thief but admitted that he/she had knowledge of brand name footwear as proven by his/her intention to make away exclusively with high-priced shoes.
To abscond with victims’ belongings, the robber reportedly scaled fences, or, if dogs were present, employed fishing lures to hook shoes over the barrier.
Accoding to Dailynews, police urge people who have information regarding the incident to contact the Thammasala police station.
