How’s this for an interesting byproduct of the THB300 minimum wage increase?: The price of Thai school uniforms is likely to rise in the coming year.
According to the Nation, higher labor and production costs are forcing garment producers to raise the prices of their wares, which means parents will have to shell out extra cash for school uniforms.
Wiboonlasana Raumraksa, director-general of the Internal Trade Department, reported that one garment producer had already approached him with a proposal to raise uniform prices.
Neither Wiboonlasana nor the Nation speculated about how large the price increase would be.
