Rocker-turned-philanthropist Athiwara ‘Toon Bodyslam’ Khongmalai said today he will run the farthest he ever has in a single day to kick off his next charity run to benefit hospitals in the Thai south.
Announcing plans for his next long-distance run, Athiwara said he’d start by running 114 kilometers on the first to raise money for seven hospitals starting late next month.
His Kao Kon La Kao charity group is set to take a 300-kilometer route between the provinces of Trang and Phuket starting Oct. 24. Money raised by donors will be given to the Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat, Trang, Krabi, Phang Nga, Takua Pa, Vachira Phuket, and Sai Buri Crown Prince hospitals in provinces stretching from Surat Thani to Pattani.
Plans also call for a mini-marathon event organizers will hope a record-setting number of runners on Oct. 27.

His charity runs have since become regular occurrences. Earlier this year, he raised THB54million (US$1.8 million) for hospital’s in the northeastern Isaan region with a run there.
