Instead of wondering who would come to his funeral, Samran Meejai decided to find out for himself.
So on Friday, the 82-year-old veteran of the Royal Thai Army took up his appointed position – inside a coffin at a Suphanburi province temple – and watched friends and family turn out for his ceremony.
“I wanted to see those who came to my funeral, because when I die I will not have a chance to see their faces,” Mr. Samran told Khaosod.
