Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has left for England after injuring himself while practicing in Bangkok. Rooney was one of the few stars who were scheduled to play in the much anticipated friendly match against the Sigha Allstars on Saturday.
Other Man U stars who will not take the field in Bangkok include Nemanja Vidic, Robin van Persie, David de Gea, Shinji Kagawa, Javier Hernandez, Chris Smalling, Ashley Young and Nani.
The injury comes amid silence from Rooney about whether he still wants to leave United. Before retiring as manager in May, Alex Ferguson said he’d been told by the England forward that he wanted to join a new club.
Newly appointed manager David Moyes has not revealed any details from talks with Rooney about his future.
During the team’s arrival on Thursday, Rooney was already at the centre of intense speculation about his future after he asked for a transfer from United.
