Rock star ‘Toon Bodyslam’ injured by fan during charity run

An eager fan accidentally injured rock star Athiwara “Toon” Khongmalai, vocalist of Thai rock band Bodyslam, yesterday on a charity run for which has raised over THB30 million.

The vocalist was reportedly bumped into by a fan, causing him to fall over. Paramedics had to spray him with pain relief spray to keep the singer going.

It wasn’t clear what the fan wanted, but his girlfriend, actress Rashwin “Goi” Wongviriya, posted a live video on Facebook soon after the accident begging fans not to interrupt the rock star for a selfie during his run. She asked, with tears in her eyes, that they avoid doing this so that he doesn’t get hurt.

Athiwara, commonly known as “Toon Bodyslam,” was completing a 10-day run from Bangkok to Bang Saphan Hospital in Prachuab Kiri Khan, in order to raise funds to purchase medical equipment for the hospital, Sanook reported.

Athiwara and other celebrities planned to run for 40 kilometers per day. He’s scheduled to reach his destination on Dec. 10.

His personal project has received much praise from locals, especially when his act of kindness has followed many recent incidents of famous people behaving badly.
