Roads readied for Songkran crush

The Seven Deadly Days of Songkran are almost upon us again, that time-honored tradition when the media recounts all of the road fatalities during the festival.

With 11 million cars expected to hit the roads, you won’t feel lonely on the road. For those not driving, officials will offer a buffet of transportation options. Taking a bus isn’t a bad choice as The Transport Co., Ltd. is adding more buses to provide 49,000 trips. Those who plan to travel around town can look to the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority, which is adding more more shuttle buses. If you’re into vintage transportation, there are 32 free train routes being added for 1,157 trips for patient travelers.

For drivers, tolls will be waived on the following highways:

Burapha Withi Expressway: Midnight April 10 to midnight April 16.

Bangkok-Chonburi, Bang Phli-Bang Pa-In motorways: 4pm April 10 to midnight April 16, NNT reported.
