Rich Kid Street Race: Honda heir rear-ends Honda City

A young man slams into the rear of a car made by his high-level automobile executive father’s company. Even Sigmund Freud might scratch his head

What started as another high-powered, Hi-So street race went wrong last night when a yellow Ferrari F355 rear-ended an innocent Honda City crossing the Bhumibol Bridge I. All three people in both cars were injured, ironically including 34-year-old Eakkapat Pornprapha, the son of A.P. Honda’s vice-president. He was in the Ferrari, but the police have not confirmed that he was driving.

According to witnesses, two Ferraris, one black and one yellow, were racing down Rama III Road. The black Ferrari was ahead and swerved to just barely avoid hitting the Honda City, while the trailing yellow Ferrari crashed hard into the midsized family car, tearing up its backside. The black Ferrari slowed down to observe the accident before fleeing the scene.

Pongpang subdistrict authorities said they will continue to investigate the case from CCTV footage to prove the “real cause” of the accident and prosecute the responsible parties.

The injured people include Eakkapat and his friend in the yellow Ferrari, and a 23-year-old woman behind the wheel of the Honda City, Sanook reported.

Cases involving wealthy industrial heirs seem to require lengthy investigations in Thailand. Police have yet to arrest Red Bull heir Vorayuth Yoovidhya more than a year after he was suspected of driving a Ferrari which hit and killed, and then dragged a Bangkok policeman as it fled the scene.
