Revamped Pantip Plaza in Pratunam unveiled after two years and THB300 million

Pantip Plaza in Pratunam reopened yesterday after a THB300 million makeover that was in the works for two years.

According to the overseer of Pantip Plaza, Asset World Estate, they intend for the 67,000 square-meter shopping center in Pratunam to be a hub for Information Technology (IT) products and cutting-edge technological devices.

An additional budget of THB150 million has also been set aside as the company plans to also revamp three other Pantip Plaza, said Sansern.

Two of them in the Bangkok areas of Ngam Wong Wan and Bang Kapi, while the third is in Chiang Mai.

Managing Director of Asset World Estate, Sansern Na Patthalung, said his company has plans that they hope will increase sales for their tenants. These include the launch of Pantip Plaza’s online shopping mall by 2017 and the introduction of 212 hotel rooms at their mall in Bang Kapi to bring in tourists, reported Bangkok Post.

According to General Manager of Asset World Estate, Veerarit Somboonsub, sale revenue for Pantip Plaza Pratunam dropped 20 percent during it’s renovation and 80 percent of their IT retail shops closed down.

Visitors to the Pratunam location were also reported to have dropped from a daily average of 35,000 to 20,000.

The company expects post-makeover the number of visitors to Pantip Plaza to return back to before, said Veerarit.

Veerarit also said Pantip Plaza Pratunam features three new display spaces: an electronic sport gaming zone, a solution zone for small and mid-sized enterprises, and a co-working space for IT hardware producers and developers.

It was also reported that over 70 percent of these shops are occupied.
