This video of great beasts running to greet a new baby elephant will touch your heart.

Dok Gaew, which means orange jasmine flower in Thai, lost his mother, who was forced to go back to work right after giving birth to him. The orphan, who is now almost two years old, was transferred to the government facility, the Elephant Conservation Center in Lampang, while waiting for a more permanent solution.

Last week, it was time for him to meet his forever family.

Staff at Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai picked up Dok Gaew on May 25. Making sure the baby was calm, Dok Gaew was driven back on a truck along with the staff who accompanied and petted him along the two-hour journey.

Watch the moment Dok Gaew finally comes home:

Today, Elephant National Park posted an update that many “nanny” elephants came to introduce and “nominate” themselves as Dok Gaew’s new mother. It seems the baby has already bonded with two nanny elephants, Dani and Khun Dej, but he hasn’t yet decided to accept a new mother yet.

Looks like the baby is slowly settling into his new home.
