Six months after being suspended following allegations of electoral misconduct, Bangkok Gov. Sukhumbhand Paribatra resumed his duties this morning.

One year into his second term, Sukhumbhand, a Democrat, returned to the governor’s office after an appeals court threw out the Election Commission’s complaint on Friday.

He was warmly welcomed back by city hall staffers, according to the Bangkok Post.

Earlier this year he faced a possible re-staging of the election he won in 2013 after the commission faulted Sukhumbhand for unfairly disparaging Pheu Thai candidate police Gen. Pongsapat Pongcharoen in that campaign.
