Four red-shirt activists have been jailed over setting fire to the Khon Kaen city hall during the massive 2010 protests.

Adisai Wibulsek, Jirattrakul Soomha, Suthat Singhabuakao and Udom Kammool were found guilty of breaking into and torching the compound on May 19, 2010.

The red-shirt group the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship had been protesting against the government and demanding then-PM Abhisit Vejjajiva end the military crackdown on red-shirts in Bangkok.

The protest quickly turned violent as demonstrators threw petrol bombs at the city hall, smashed up property and set the building on fire.

Adisai and Jirattrakul were both jailed for 13 years, while Suthas and Udom both got three years, the Bangkok Post reported.

Ninety-one people, mostly red-shirt protesters, were killed and thousands injured during the May military crackdown.
