Brace yourself, Songkran is only two weeks away. The festival will be a wonderful time for family, watery fun and germs. Wait, what germs?
A test of commonly used face powders typically smeared across strangers’ faces found bacteria, viruses and yeast, according to the Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology.
Some of the contaminants can result in blisters and blood infections, according to the institute. However, these germs can be killed with gamma radiation from a cobalt-60 source, Bangkok Post reported.
For those heading to party on Silom Road, 500 kilograms of sterilised chalk powder will be available to the public at the BTS Sala Daeng station starting at 10am on April 3, 9 and 10.
