The ramp on Vibhavadi Road leading to Don Mueang International Airport is closed from today through Wednesday for evaluation of future plans by the Highway Department.

Because the ramp causes an ongoing traffic bottleneck on Vibhavadi, the Highway Department is planning to rebuild it to allow one extra lane on the road.

Therefore, authorities are closing the ramp for a few days to evaluate the effects the proposed renovation will have on traffic, before tearing it down to build a new one, reported Daily News.

However, if the closing of the ramp causes more problems and hazards than expected, they will come up with a solution to aid the traffic during construction.

The airport put up a banner over the entrance of the ramp, reporting the closing plan and asking vehicles to make a U-turn near the air force base for the time being. For those who commute from the tollway, they should take the exit near the cargo warehouse.

Furthermore, it is advised that travelers should spare at least three hours for the commute.
