A lady who has been caring for 43 stray dogs on a piece of land she shares with them in the central province of Samut Songkhram has been notified by the land’s owner that she must leave in 20 days, reported The Nation.
Suwandee Moongkhamen, 58, says that she and the pups have nowhere to go.
Suwandee is not paying rent to live on the small parcel, but instead spends her tiny salary of just THB1,000 (USD30), which she earns cleaning the bathrooms at a nearby temple, to feed and care for the dogs, whom she thinks of as her children.
She has said that she would rather die than move away from her beloved pooches.
She said that the owner agreed to let her stay there some time ago but has apparently changed his mind. With friends and neighbors, she built a fence around the property to protect the dogs from being hit by passing cars, as the land is downtown.
