Public Health Minister says to watch out for Coronavirus

Coronavirus

If you’re starting to tire of spending your days worrying about dengue fever, then take heart, for the Public Health Ministry has an entirely new disease with which to scare the living bejeezus out of Bangkok’s neurotics.

According to Public Health Minster Pradit Sintavanarong, all of Thailand’s hospitals have been put on high alert for cases of Coronavirus, especially in tourists entering the Kingdom from the Middle East.

Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV), a close cousin of SARS, has presented cases in multiple Middle Easter countries, and put health officials throughout the world on high alert. Though no cases have yet shown up in Thailand, the country’s robust tourist traffic places it at high risk for transmission of the disease.

MCOT reports that the source of the virus remains unknown.
