As police promise to crack down on unscrupulous motorcycle taxis, officials have suggested a little price transparency could help.
While unveiling their plan to organize official motorcycle taxi stations around Bangkok, the Metropolitan Police Bureau yesterday suggested requiring all motorcycle taxi outposts to post price charts stating how much a ride to each destination would cost.
Meanwhile, all police departments have to make sure motorbike taxi operators in their area are legally registered with the Department of Land Transport.
Lt. Gen. Apirat Kongsompong said officials will survey how many stations are in each district before organizing them to minimize the congestion they cause to roads and footpaths. The process will start this week, Kapook reported.
