Junta leader Prayuth Chan-ocha brushed off a highly acclaimed fortune teller’s prediction that there would not be an election next year.
When famous fortune teller Warin Buawiratlert made a prediction that the election would be postponed, our junta leader, in a typical move, flippantly said that he is the one in charge of organizing the upcoming general election, not any fortune teller.
Prayuth maintained that all related agencies are taking the necessary steps toward organizing the nationwide vote which will pave the way for the general election and ultimately, the restoration of democracy in Thailand.
Prayuth asserted that he was not concerned with the constitutional referendum nor with movements by groups, including politicians, who have a propensity to engage in debates about the draft charter, reported National News Bureau of Thailand.
The junta chief also added that the referendum results should not be viewed as a reflection of the public support for the National Council for Peace and Order. According to Prayuth, the council will stay in power until the new constitution is in place regardless of whether the draft charter is accepted or not by the people.
