Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha will make his much-anticipated trip to the US to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump in October. However, the exact dates of the trip have not yet been finalized, according to Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, who spoke to the press on Tuesday.
The minister said that the two leaders will discuss trade and security issues as well as discuss possible sanctions on North Korea. Don noted that it is expected that the United State’s main objective in the meeting will be in making strides towards disarming North Korea, reported Thai PBS.
The October meeting, as well as a stop at Government House on Aug. 8 by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, indicate that relations between the U.S. and Thailand are improving. Tillerson’s Thailand visit was the first by a senior US official since the 2014 coup.
