Junta chief Prayuth Chan-ocha expressed his condolences this morning over the death of Singapore founding father Lee Kuan Yew.
During a speech, Prayuth mentioned Lee’s age and longevity and said he’d been giving the ailing 91-year-old his “moral support.”
“I would like to express my sadness for the passing of former [Prime Minister] Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore,” he said as reported by Khaosod English. “He worked very hard. He was over 90 years old. He should have lived longer than that, but people who work hard tend to die fast.”
Prayuth had been planning to travel to Singapore tomorrow and Wednesday, a trip now postponed at the request of Singaporean officials.
Lee died early this morning after being admitted for pneumonia on Feb. 5.
