Possession of child pornography banned

The junta-appointed legislature today passed a bill banning the possession of child pornography.

Somehow the vote fell short of unanimity, with one vote cast against it and 193 for it and two abstentions.

The bill criminalizes personal possesion of child porn in line with those who produce or sell it, according to The Nation.

Pornography of any type is already illegal in Thailand, this bill made a special case of that involving underage children.

Punishment for possession is now upward of 30 years in jail and a fine up to THB200,000.
