Poop-shaped objects in Karamucho chips interrupt woman’s TV binge

A Thai woman’s precious TV time was ruined when she found mysterious, poop-shaped objects in her bag of Karamucho, a popular Japanese brand of spicy chips.

Facebook user Pathomporn Boonnakkaew shared photos yesterday of the mysterious black objects inside her chip bag. In a public Facebook post, she wrote that she bought the chips from a 7-Eleven near her condo in Bangkok and was surprised to find her favorite brand tasting different than it usually does.

“I love these chips, but I was surprised to find that many chips were burned. It’s usually not the case.”

“It smells weird and doesn’t taste spicy at all when it’s usually very spicy. Then I saw this weird  black substance. It’s soft and disgusting! I poked around the bag with a chopstick and found out there were two of them. I wanted to puke.”

“I just wanted to eat the chips while watching a TV series…then came these stupid things. I’m so unlucky.”

Following the viral post, Karamucho Thailand responded in a Facebook statement that they have contacted the woman and will find out what the contamination in her chips is.

“We have contacted the customer who posted a story about our product. We are gravely concerned, and our quality control department will find the reason for the incident. We will collect the sample and follow up with you. We sincerely apologize.”

Pathomporn updated this morning that the company said the object was likely the snack’s seasonings that hardened when it got burned.

She also said the company also offered to pay for her health checkup and will pick up the poop-shaped sample later today.
