Pood Thai Dai: Netflix launches Thai subtitles, doubles content in country

Netflix today launched their Thai user interface complete with Thai subtitles and dubbing after the company expanded its service in the kingdom last year.

From popular series such as Stranger Things, Orange is the New Black, and A Series of Unfortunate Events, now your Thai friends can enjoy Netflix in their first language. Thai subtitles have been added to more than half of the content available in Thailand, the company revealed at a press conference today.

For those of us who have used Netflix in the U.S. and noticed the slim selection when accessing the site in Thailand, the company noted that they have doubled their content in Thailand since the international expansion in January.

“All of the most popular content in the U.S. is available in Thailand. A year ago to now, we’ve doubled the amount of content, and we plan to continue to increase that. We’re constantly innovating, and not just in our technology but also in our content — we’ll add more and more,” said David Burt, Netflix’s Content Planning and Analysis Vice-President.

Netflix also announced an agreement with AIS, saying there will be co-promotions with the telecommunications partner.

The service is offering a free one-month trial, with monthly subscription fee starting at THB280.
